Faculty Center for Teaching, Learning & Scholarship

Overview:

The Faculty Center is seeking applications for a 2-year Faculty Center Associate position beginning in Fall 2025. The Faculty Associates work closely with Faculty Center staff, the other Faculty Center Associate, and the Faculty Center Advisory Council to guide and plan programming, hone their skills in professional development and expand their leadership opportunities across campus. The start dates for the two Faculty Center Associates is staggered so that you will have the opportunity to work with another faculty member who has been in the role for a year. This is a rewarding opportunity to guide the direction of support and training for faculty on campus.

Eligibility:

Candidates must be tenured and must demonstrate a commitment to using evidence-based best-teaching practices by way of any of the following: ยท

  • Regular participation in teaching workshops and other related professional development activities
  • Experience coordinating workshops or professional development activities.
  • SUNY (or other) service, teaching and/or research/creative activity awards
  • Publications or presentations about the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL)
  • Other evidence of significant commitment to research/creative activity around teaching and learning

  • Faculty applicants are encouraged to discuss with their department chair the feasibility of release from courses and major department service for the period of service

Terms and Release Time:

  • Term of 2 years (renewable)
  • Course release to achieve a 2/2 teaching load
  • To the extent possible, release from major departmental service work

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the other Faculty Associate and Faculty Center professional staff to develop programming and facilitate projects and work, including:
    • New Faculty Orientation
    • New Chair Orientation
    • Fall Faculty Institute
    • Assessment of Faculty Center Programming
    • Workshops, Professional Learning Communities, and Communities of Practice
  • Would have set hours at the Center
  • Would have an 11-month obligation, with some flexibility in meeting summer obligation
  • Would play a leadership role in the Faculty Center and Advisory Council meetings
