This month, Jennifer Westmoreland, Associate Director of the Office of Community Standards, joined the Faculty Center for a conversation about academic integrity, AI, mental health, and other issues on our campus. Jennifer shared how her office responds when faculty submit the various forms her office administers, including the Instructor Report on Academic Dishonesty and the Concern for a Student Form. We also talked about how Community Standards has been approaching academic integrity concerns related to AI.
Most significantly, Jennifer emphasized that SUNY Oneonta’s approach to student behavior is not punitive. Our systems privilege providing support and education to students struggling with academic or personal challenges. The Office of Community Standards is here to help students connect with resources they need and to support faculty and staff in facilitating a fair and safe community.
